Profile

Nayanthara, the smoldering beauty with sparkling eyes and innocent smile epitomizes the new spirit of South Indian film industry. She is a fighter, indefatigable in spirits and mind. Not only is she ravishingly beautiful and photogenic, she is talented, professional and has the determination to make it to the top.
Today she is bracketed among the top three heroines in south and her rise in the last one year has been phenomenal. No one ever thought that this plain Jane from small town Tiruvalla in the Central Travancore area of Kerala will make it big in the glitzy world of cinema. In fact Diana Kurien was hand picked by veteran director Satyan Anthikkad, rechristened as Nayanthara and cast in "Manasinakkare".
Later she did films with top directors and heroes like Mammootty and Mohanlal and then she made her Tamil debut with "Ayya". But it was the role opposite superstar Rajnikanth Chandramukhi that sky-rocketed her to stardom. Today Nayanthara has an aura around her as she is said to be elusive, inaccessible, does not make public appearances and prefers to do her work silently without being dragged into any controversies.
Nayanthara agrees that luck played an important role in her rise to superstardom and she is having the best of both worlds- Kollywood and Tollywood, where she is huge. Though she does not do Malayalam films any longer, she has a huge market in Kerala, where local distributors are buying her Telugu films and dubbing them into Malayalam and minting money.
Today, Nayan is a brand by herself and she is one of the few leading ladies in Tamil who commands an opening. Now she wants to be more careful with the films she signs and goes through scripts with a fine comb. Nayan has two films on floors is only focused on her career at the moment and is refusing all the endorsements offers coming her way. The pretty actress says that she does not want to be overexposed

Open - Sad Talk

Nayanthara just can’t seem to keep herself out of the headlines. The latest headliner is IPL’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) terminating her contract as their brand ambassador. The actress, who is shooting for Kuselan in Hyderabad, spoke to Sify.com and said she is yet to recover from the shock. Excerpts. Chennai Super Kings has released a press release saying they have terminated their contract with you as brand ambassador.
I am yet to get any official letter about it. I got up in the morning to read about it in the newspapers.
But what went wrong?
I am shocked. I just can’t figure out what went wrong. I was always willing to sit across the table and discuss things with them, but their decision of dropping me has been hasty and highly unethical.
They say you did not turn up for the first match in Chennai to cheer the team?
How could I? I was unwell. My doctor had advised me to take complete bed rest after I fainted on the sets because of low BP and sunstroke. Does Mr Gurunath of CSK think media reports about my health were wrong? I was ill for three days and I can produce the diagnostic and hospital reports if needed. Anyone in the Kuselan production team will tell you that I was not shooting for three days, including the 23rd.
If I were not interested in being a part of CSK, I would never have signed up as their brand ambassador. My passion for the sport made me agree to this association with IPL and CSK.
They say that you did not honour your commitments to them.
In my MOU with CSK, it clearly states that I have to make an appearance at the star launch function, team launch function, interviews and talk shows (both individual and combined), promotional video and any six matches played in Chennai. There is no compulsion about star presence at the matches. It also says that any bonafide reason for absence can be excused.
For the star launch, Mr Gurunath called me up and said, ‘We have decided to go ahead with Vijay for the star launch. Do you have any problem?’ It was very obvious that they did not want me at the function.
Later, I attended the team launch and was ready to give dates for the photo and video shoot. But the organisers could not shoot them because of various other reasons. How can that be my fault? And, trust me, they have not shot it till date!
How do you feel right now?
I am upset that Mr Gurunath took this step just because I could not attend the match on the 23rd. I firmly believe that this is not a valid reason for them to terminate the contract.
Whether I am the star ambassador or not, I love cricket and I am a firm believer in the sportsman spirit. Chennai has given me everything in life and CSK is my team. I will cheer for them and wish Dhoni and his boys all the best.

Nayanthara
She has got the looks the body the attractiveness and almost all other paraphernalia that takes to be an ideal Indian movie goddess. And even in this early stage of her career, she is one of the most wanted and most successful actresses in south India and apparently is way ahead of her counterparts in whatever aspects you may name about it. Yes we are talking about Nayanthara, probably with the same amount of passion and same number of heart beats you have conducted this search and ended up on this page. Given below is her biography in a nut shell, read on.

Diana Mariam Kurien A.K.A Nayanthara is a native of Kerala and her mother tongue is Malayalam. She was born on November 18, 1984.She loved acting and modeling ever since she was a little girl and she always wanted to be an actress.

She first entered into Malayalam movies and later extended her reign to other languages like Tamil and Telungu. As a newbie she was lucky enough to be introduced by one of the finest directors Malayalam movie has ever witnessed- Sathyan Anthikad. Nayanthara’s first movie was in Malayalam and it was named ‘Manasinakkaree”. This one was a family hit allover Kerala and she made a very impressive debut performance in this movie. Many then considered her as a rising young star in the horizon of Malayalam movie and little did they know that they’re just underestimating her.

She is a B.A graduate and got this first movie opportunity while she was doing C.A. She is the kind of person who is very confident on herself and she always gives everything she can offer as an actress and she really enjoys her work. A year after her debut, she signed two more movies in Malayalam- ‘Vismayathumbathu’ and ‘Natturajavu’ with superstar Mohanlal. Both of these movies were decent hits and with them her star value skyrocketed.

After her success in her own language she migrated to Tamil movies and later to Telugu. The reason for this migration is said to be her quest for more success and that is exactly what she found in there. First she signed ‘Chandramukhi’ opposite to Superstar Rajnikanth. This of course brought her more movies and she eventually signed movies like ‘Ghajini’ with Surya and ‘Sivakasi’ with Vijay. Later in 2006 she had a Telugu hit with Venkatesh named ‘Lakshmi’.The credit of two of the recent big Telugu hits ‘Boss’ and ‘Lakshmi’ goes to her and she is a superstar in Telugu already.

In Tamil also she had hits like ‘Ghajini’ and ‘Vallavan’. With her gorgeous beauty and talent she has placed herself in the horizon of the south Indian movie industry as a shining star and most importantly in the hearts of millions of young south Indian blokes. She is one of the busiest runners in the industry now and in coming years; you’ll see her in some really big movies.
